2023 TEAM MIDWEST HIGH SCHOOL TRYOUTS Pre season team
MWAHA’s U18 Preseason team plays two tournaments and several weekends to give our players exposure and opportunity to play at a higher level. Registration for Team Midwest tryouts is available through the Midwest Highschool Hockey League website. Payment of $75 is due when you check in at the rink. Try outs will be held on Saturday July 22nd from 3-4:30pm and Sunday July 23rd from 3-4:30pm at the MidAmerican Rec Plex located at 6500 Grand Ave, West Des Moines, IA 50266. Team Midwest Showcase team is coached by Rick Baker, Shjon Podein, Zach Gruhn, and Eric Wisnousky. Team managers are Jessica and Michael Hurd. Congratulations to the following players that have been chosen for the 2023Team Midwest U18 Preseason team. We had over 50 players try out. The team is coached by Rick Baker, Zach Gruhn, Eric Wisnouskey and Shjon Podein.
Team Midwest Update August 25, 2023:
Team Midwest Preseason Team played at the Blue Ox invitational August 19-20, 2023. Out of seven teams we finished 3rd. We lost games to two junior teams, Blue Ox and Minnesota Moose. Our boys played competitively and scored a total of 17 goals and 23 assists over 5 games. Shout outs to Wyatt Wagner of Bellevue NE for a hat trick in our last game of the weekend. Grant Harder out of North Sioux City SD totaled five assists over the weekend. Caleb Caldwell from Olathe KS was offered a roster spot with Blue Ox and has signed to play with them for the 2023-2024 season.
Team Midwest U18 is designed to give our affiliate players a chance to compete at a higher level and explore opportunities playing hockey beyond high school. The team is coached by Rick Baker, Zach Gruhn, Eric Wisnouskey, and Shjon Podein.
