MWAHA Coach Seminar Announcement June 24-25, 2023

Recently we sent an announcement about Hockey Development within the MWAHA Affiliate. The success of hockey relies on two important aspects, coaches & player development. Going forward the plan for coaches will include seminars, events, and the formation of a Coach Association where coaches can hear from talented speakers, experience new concepts in coaching and collaborate with fellow coaches from across the Midwest Affiliate. The MWAHA is launching their first event for coaches … a Coach Seminar in Des Moines Iowa.

When – Saturday 24 June starting at 5:00 PM concluding Sunday 25 June at 2:00 PM

Where – West Des Moines Marriott on Saturday evening and Sunday morning followed by on-ice activities on Sunday. The MWAHA has some rooms blocked for the event, but coaches can stay at the hotel of their choice. If staying at the West Des Moines Marriott, the rooms are $159 and the last day to book is Friday June 2nd. Speakers – Barry Smith a former NHL player, Stanley Cup winner & coach, Bob Mancini – Assistant Executive Director of USA Hockey, and Doug Deitz USA Hockey Central District Coach-In-Chief.

Why Attend – Level 4 and Level 5 coaches that attend will receive 5 credits for their required Continuing Education in addition to learning about some of the latest ideas for high performance coaching. Five credits fulfills the Continuing Education requirement.

Cost – There is a non-refundable $25 registration fee … however, any coach that attends will have the $25 returned … it gets even better … for coaches that are travelling to Des Moines, submit a hotel receipt for your Saturday night’s stay and MWAHA will provide $100 towards your room cost. Meals and refreshments will also be provided.
