2017 Girls USAH Central District Development Camp Tryouts

USA Hockey/Central District Development Camp tryouts in 2017.  Here is what the weekends look like for March and April:

March 17-19 Central district playoffs for Nationals

March 24-26  Central District/ USA Hockey Girls Development camp tryouts in Wisconsin

March 31-April 2  open weekend before Nationals

April 6-10 USA Hockey Tier I & II Nationals

April 14-16  Easter Weekend

April 20-23 High School Showcase and NIT's in Minnesota

April 28-30  NCAA Coaches convention in Naples, FL. (all of my evaluators for the tryouts attend this convention in Naples and some leave a week before, and as you all know I only use DI, D III and Club Hockey coaches for evaluators)....

Looking at the dates please let all Tier I & II coaches and players know to keep that weekend open for these tryouts.  I am asking that these dates get posted ASAP, because I am already receiving calls about this.  I know this is before Nationals and I have only had to do this once, but I have no choice, unless one of you has a better suggestion the dates will be March 24-26, 2017 in Wisconsin, the location will be announced at the September,  at the Central District meeting.

2017 Women's World Championship in Michigan

Girls/Women's Section-

Together with our marketing and events department, we’ve been able to create an exclusive pre-sale ticket opportunity for the Women’s World Championship in Michigan. The attached update and PDF’s include the details and we encourage you to review as soon as possible. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me, Kristen, or Reagan if you have questions.

2017 Women's World Championship in Michigan

Girls/Women’s Section,

Thank you again for putting in a “team first” effort to ensure we produce an unprecedented series of events in Michigan this spring. It will be a true showcase of female hockey in the U.S. and it’s been impressive to see the collaboration of the event managers, volunteers, and staff involved!
As you know, we’ve been working with our marketing/events department on a plan that would allow Nationals participants an opportunity to purchase tickets to the Women’s World Championship. Thanks to the hard work of many and cooperation from the host sites, the schedule has been adjusted so that Nationals’ participants can attend semi-final #2 and/or gold-medal games on April 6-7.

As a result, we’ve created an advance ticket sale for Nationals attendees and hopefuls. Qualifying teams, districts, and/or National-bound teams will be given the opportunity to purchase tickets February 7th-9th before they go on sale to the general public on Friday, February 10th.  As part of this offer, we’ve created two PDF’s explaining how to purchase tickets (enclosed): one version for teams who’ve already qualified and another version for districts and National-bound teams (to accommodate the districts who haven’t had play downs yet).

To help promote this pre-sale, we ask that you distribute the attached information as soon as possible. We realize questions might arise so we wanted to provide some feedback on the following: Who is responsible for purchasing the tickets? Qualifying teams can contact the box office directly starting on February 7th.

For those districts who haven’t had play-downs, we suggest a few options:

1. Solicit interest from your District Directors prior to February 7th to see if your district could pre-purchase tickets, solicit interest from your Nationalbound teams to determine if teams would reimburse the district if they advanced to Nationals

2. If your district is unable to pre-pay for the tickets, we suggest that you forward the attached info to your National bound teams and they can choose whether to purchase tickets during the pre-sale.

Is my district required to purchase the tickets for interested teams? No. If a district wishes to front the money and then charge teams that advance, that’s entirely their choice.

What if our district or teams from our district purchase tickets and they do not advance? Unfortunately, that is a risk involved with this pre-sale. As with all ticket sales for this event, there is no refund policy. However, we hope districts and teams would work together to "resell" if one team can’t use their tickets and another is in need of tickets.

What about at-large teams? We realize these teams will not be identified until the final district championship in March and we’ve asked that a number of tickets are held so that those teams have an opportunity to purchase them once they’ve been notified of their selection to attend.

We appreciate your help with promoting this offer and want to thank everyone involved for working together to help provide young female hockey players the opportunity to attend an IIHF Women’s World Championship and watch their role models compete for a World Championship title!

Let us know if you have any questions as you distribute, we’re happy to help.
